Hey guys, I just recently upgraded to Windows 10 and everything was running fine until two days ago, when my computer started to experience severe performance issues. When I opened up task manager, I found that my pc was at 100% disk usage. It would cool down and drop to about 40-80% usage for a bit, and sometimes it'd be down to 0-5%. But for the most part, regardless of what I'm running, the issue will pop up again within a few minutes. I've refreshed my computer in the hopes it was onlya piece of malware causing the issue, but the problem persists and I'm at a loss what to do.I've tried chkdsk, hardware diagnostic tools, I've tried stopping the superfetch, prefetch, and BITS services, all to no avail. Every time I look for a solution, I get fixes for windows 8 and 8.1, none of which work for me when I try them. Hi N.Sotolongo,From your new trace file, we could see the peak is MsMpEng.exe process. It's belong to Windows Defender.Have you installed any other third-party software?I suspect it's caused by some other software conflicts.
Today we are going to see how to run a DOS program in Windows 10, 8 or 7. Using either a 32- or 64-bit version. In 32-bit version its easy, but in 64-bit its little tricky. To find out if your machine is 32- or 64-bit, right click Start and select System. Step 3: Once you’ve done that, next time.
If you have third-party security software, please disable it temporarily to check the result. Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help, and unmark the answers if they provide no help. It also happens at random, with nothing running, with the 'system' process, or ntoskrnl.exe, becoming the major disk user. The latency that this disk thrashing brings about prevents me from playing games. In addition, my internet adapter fails regularly, at which point I have to unplug and replug in the usb. My usb ports also lock up sometimes a few minutes after the computer's startup, leaving me without the use of my mouse or keyboard. This problem, despite my best efforts, doesn't seem to be working. My only sort-of lead is HD Tune Pro telling me my hard drive suffered an interface communication error.
But it's only one, opposed to others having serious issues who had 1000+ instancesof this happening. In addition, I scanned my hard drive for errors with Seagate and it turned up clean. I'm at a loss what to do next besides format my pc and install windows 7 again to see if the upgrade to 10 is what's causing the issue. This is an example of disk usage hitting huge percentage without anything really running. This started immediately after booting windows: http://1drv.ms/1DHA4QG.
Have you checked Device Manager to see if you have any bangs (yellow triangle with an exclamation point) next devices in your system? If so, try reinstalling drivers or installing updated drivers. Are you running tweaked i.e., overclocked, performance processes, etc?If so, run your system at recommended, possibly lower performance settings. Please remember to: 'Vote' if my response was helpful. 'Mark As Answered' if I answered your question correctly.

RESOLVED FOR ME - SEAGATE BACKUP SOFTWAREI tried everything in every forum, determined to keep using Windows 10Finally resolved when I not only removed the Seagate usb from my computer - I uninstalled all Seagate Software.Immediately my computer was back to normal.Per Seagate's website, my slim external drive can still be used as diskspace but their dashboard software is incompatible with Windows 10. (It did not occur to me that mine started the day after I plugged the external drive back in as I had removedit before updating to windows 10 and windows 10 worked great for about 8 days.) Simply removing the external drive usb did not fix things because it was the software, not the drive itself.Hope this helps someone.
